I’ve known Ericka for almost four years now, but we only truly became friends during our 12th grade in senior high school. The first time I met her was back in 10th grade during the pandemic when she became my classmate. Even though we weren’t close at the time, I deeply admired her for her dedication, intelligence, and leadership. She consistently excelled in both individual tasks and group work, always taking the initiative and bringing creative, well-thought-out ideas to the table. She was the type of person who strived for perfection—not just for herself but for the entire group. Fate brought us together again in 12th grade, and this time, we became close friends. On the very first day, she was the one who approached me, and from there, our bond grew. As class officers, we worked side by side, and I saw firsthand how dependable and hardworking she was. She didn’t just take on responsibilities—she fulfilled them with passion and dedication. Our teamwork and chemistry as leaders made every challenge easier to overcome. Now, as we step into a new chapter in our lives as nursing students, I am grateful that we remain blockmates, just as we had planned with our other friends. Over the past semester, I have witnessed her growth—not just as a student but as a leader. As our class representative, she has become even more hardworking, determined, and skilled in communication. She connects effortlessly with our classmates, making everyone feel heard and valued. Even our professors recognize and appreciate her dedication. This is why I have no doubt that Ericka will be an outstanding councilor. She is not someone who merely speaks about change—she makes it happen. With her leadership, commitment, and heart for service, she will not only bring ideas but take real action. I wholeheartedly believe in her ability to lead, inspire, and make a difference.
If there is one adjective that I could use to describe Ericka, it would be the word “responsible.” Though I have only known her for a few months, I often reflect on how fortunate our block is to have her as our class representative. Sometimes, I find it difficult to fathom how someone can juggle so many responsibilities at once. Whether it’s personal commitments, academic tasks, or extracurricular activities, Ericka manages everything without fail. Despite the weight of her multiple responsibilities, she never fails to show up for the people who matter to her. And that is what I highly admire about her: being an outstanding and consistent honor student is one thing, but being a reliable friend and peer is something that truly sets her apart. What makes Ericka even more admirable is her initiative in academics. She does not wait for opportunities to come to her; instead, she actively finds ways to contribute and accomplish the tasks given to us. She works well with others, which makes her a natural leader with the ability to bring out the best in everyone. That is precisely what makes her an inspiring role model—one who does not simply lead with authority but by example. To know and to be known by Ericka is like a breath of fresh air. She is the whole definition of dedication and reliability—always ready to lend a helping hand and fully committed to her responsibilities. What I have noticed about her is that she does not simply aim for success—she brings others along with her. Her leadership is rooted from genuine care and desire to make a difference. In the short time that I have known her, I have witnessed firsthand how she works as a leader in every aspect of her life. She does not just lead with words, but with actions that motivate other students to follow her example. To put it simply, having Ericka as a friend may be a privilege, but for our student body to have her as a councilor will be an even greater honor.
